Semiconductor and display sectors face rising costs and equipment shifts
The semiconductor and display industries are facing rising costs driven by supply chain pressures. In the display market, increasing prices for LCD panels, driver ICs, and control boards are creating upward cost pressure. While manufacturers are seeing higher component costs, consumer prices have not yet seen a universal spike due to high price elasticity and demand constraints.
Simultaneously, the semiconductor sector is seeing a surge in demand for second-hand equipment. As the cost of advanced process research and new equipment delivery cycles extend to 12–18 months, manufacturers are increasingly turning to refurbished mature-process equipment (90nm to 28nm). This shift supports high-demand sectors like automotive electronics, industrial control, and IoT. The global second-hand semiconductor equipment market is projected to grow from 26 billion yuan in 2024 to nearly 66.5 billion yuan by 2031.
