Taiwan market rallies on foreign investor ETF inflows and Goldman surge

Taiwan’s equity market closed higher, reversing earlier losses and adding 255 points as foreign investors trimmed net purchases by NT$379 billion while domestic heavyweight ETFs saw strong buying. The market‑capitalisation‑weighted ETF 0050 attracted more than 1.2 million investors, with monthly additions of over 110 thousand accounts and assets surpassing NT$2.2 trillion, reinforcing its role as a “fourth institutional investor” supporting price stability.

Goldman Sachs surged to become the largest foreign brokerage in Taiwan, its half‑year trading turnover jumping 237 % to NT$12.5 trillion, overtaking rivals such as JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley. Meanwhile, foreign investors recorded net sales across several Taiwanese stocks over the past five days, including repeated selling pressure on 0050 and other major constituents.

These developments highlight a shift of capital within Taiwan’s market, with inflows into flagship ETFs and heightened activity by global brokerage firms shaping market dynamics.
