Semiconductor industry focuses on sustainability and SME integration

The semiconductor industry is increasingly prioritizing energy efficiency and strategic integration to meet rising global demand. In the context of AI infrastructure, data centers, and edge computing, engineering-led sustainability is becoming a primary focus. Precision timing is emerging as a critical factor in improving energy efficiency, particularly in AI data centers where better time synchronization allows GPUs to spend more time working and less time idling, thereby improving performance per watt.

Simultaneously, Ireland is seeking to expand its role in the European chip manufacturing ecosystem through its Silicon Island strategy. This initiative aims to connect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the supply chain. Rather than building large-scale factories, SMEs can participate through specialized services such as component manufacturing, software development, testing, materials, logistics, and engineering.
