Seminar to discuss financialization in Brazilian higher education

A seminar titled ‘Financeirização na Educação Superior Brasileira: impactos, precarização de direitos e desafios à proteção coletiva do trabalho docente’ is scheduled for September 8 in Brazil. Organized by Sinpro Minas in partnership with the Observatório Sindical do Ensino Superior, the UFMG Graduate Program in Law, and Grupo TREM, the event will take place at the OAB headquarters in Barro Preto.

The seminar aims to examine how the transformation of educational groups into stock market-traded conglomerates affects curricula, contracts, and working conditions in private higher education institutions. The program includes three discussion panels featuring researchers and union leaders to address the expansion of educational conglomerates, the intensification and precariousness of teaching work, and the challenges regarding collective labor protection.
