Ardie Savea signs with Blues for 2027 Super Rugby season

Ardie Savea Blues Super Rugby Pacific All Blacks rugby transfer

All Blacks captain Ardie Savea has officially signed with the Blues for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season. The move follows the dissolution of Moana Pasifika, where Savea had previously played.

Savea, 32, is returning to Auckland after a period playing for the Kobe Steelers in Japan. He described the move as a personal dream, stating, “The Blues have always been on my heart.” He expressed a desire to use rugby as a vehicle to unite the diverse cultures of Auckland both on and off the field.

Blues CEO Karl Budge noted that Savea’s leadership and personality will be significant assets for the club’s efforts to reconnect with the city. Savea is currently recovering from shoulder surgery following an injury sustained during an All Blacks tour in South Africa.
