Sempra Infrastructure and Petrobras sign 20-year LNG supply deal

Sempra Infrastructure has signed a 20-year sales and purchase agreement with Petrobras to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Port Arthur LNG project in Jefferson County, Texas.

Under the agreement, Petrobras will acquire approximately 0.8 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG. The supply will be sourced from Phase 2 of the Port Arthur LNG project. Petrobras becomes the first South American company to join Sempra Infrastructure’s LNG customer portfolio.

The Port Arthur LNG project is being developed in two main phases. Phase 1 has a capacity of approximately 13 mtpa, with trains 1 and 2 expected to begin commercial operations in 2027 and 2028. Phase 2 will add another 13 mtpa, bringing the total capacity to roughly 26 mtpa, with trains 3 and 4 projected to start operations in 2030 and 2031.
