Italian bishops meet in Benevento to discuss regional challenges

Various religious and community initiatives are taking place across Italy. In Benevento, approximately thirty bishops are meeting to discuss the social, demographic, and pastoral challenges facing Italy’s ‘internal areas,’ which are often characterized by aging populations and depopulation. This meeting aims to identify best practices and foster dialogue to support these fragile territories.

In the Basilicata region, the ‘Di chi sono le case vuote?’ project is launching an open call for artists to participate in creative residencies. The initiative seeks to revitalize villages in Sasso di Castalda, Baragiano, and Muro Lucano through workshops focused on traditional crafts such as ceramics, textiles, and woodworking.

Other local events include a spiritual gathering at the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora dello Scoglio featuring Antonia Salzano, mother of Carlo Acutis, and a fraternity meeting for young priests and seminarians from the Diocese of Molfetta held in Melfi. Additionally, a lecture in Molfetta will explore the historical and social impact of the stigmata through the lives of Saint Francis and Saint Padre Pio.
