Semyon Varlamov returns to health for New York Islanders

Veteran goaltender Semyon Varlamov has declared himself healthy and ready for the New York Islanders' training camp. After missing nearly two seasons due to injuries and undergoing two surgeries, the 38-year-old is expected to participate fully in training and preseason games.

Islanders General Manager Mathieu Darche described Varlamov’s recovery as “almost a miracle,” noting that the goaltender has been training on the ice four to five times a week for over a month without pain or medication. Varlamov’s return provides significant depth to the Islanders' goaltending rotation, which includes starter Ilya Sorokin and recent signing Vitek Vanecek.

In addition to Varlamov, the Islanders receive other key players back for training camp. Forwards Kyle Palmieri and Pierre Engvall have recovered from previous injuries, and defenseman Alexander Romanov has returned to practice following shoulder surgery.
