Seán Fitzgerald reveals Pádraic Joyce's reaction to Love Island appearance

Galway GAA player Seán ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald has shared details regarding his decision to leave the inter-county panel to participate in the reality television show ‘Love Island’.

Fitzgerald revealed that Galway manager Pádraic Joyce reacted positively to the news. After being informed that the opportunity was not yet certain, Joyce reportedly expressed excitement, describing the move as a “class” opportunity. Fitzgerald noted that he wanted to ensure the decision did not come as a shock to the manager.

Fitzgerald, who was a regular starter for Galway during their 2024 All-Ireland campaign, has since returned to competitive play with his club, Bearna. He also noted that his teammates supported him, even hosting watch parties during his time in the villa.
