Sen. John Fetterman Says He’d Quit Democrats If Party Turns Anti‑Israel
Senator John Fetterman (D‑PA) told reporters at the Hill Nation Summit that he would leave the Democratic Party if it officially adopts an anti‑Israel stance, calling it a “moral clarity” red line. He emphasized he has no immediate plans to switch parties but warned the party’s direction could force him out. Fetterman cited a recent House vote in which more than 100 Democrats supported an amendment to block billions in military aid to Israel, describing the vote as symbolic but indicative of a shift. A Quinnipiac poll of Pennsylvania voters found 57% of Democrats, 55% of Republicans and 46% of independents think he should change parties, and 69% of Democratic voters in his state disapprove of his performance. Despite the pressure, Fetterman reiterated his strong support for Israel and said he would remain a “terrible Republican” who still votes with Democrats on most issues.
