Sena Madureira bridge collapse investigation remains stalled
Three months after the collapse of the Padre Paolino Baldassari bridge in Sena Madureira, Acre, authorities have yet to hire a specialized technical company to conduct a formal forensic analysis. The structure collapsed on June 5, blocking the river channel and disrupting local transportation and daily life.
Pedro Buzolin, the General Delegate of the Civil Police of Acre, stated that the administrative process is ongoing but has no fixed deadline for completion. He noted that the investigation is complex and requires specialized equipment and expertise from outside the state to analyze the collected materials.
The collapse, which occurred on a structure inaugurated in late 2023, resulted in injuries to four individuals: retired judge Edinaldo Muniz dos Santos, engineer Ednei Muniz dos Santos, and residents Antonio Morais Lima Filho and Weverton Murieta. The investigation is considered one of the most complex engineering inquiries in the recent history of the state.
