Senace launches digital simulator for environmental studies in Peru

Senace, Peru’s National Service of Environmental Certification for Sustainable Investments, has launched a digital Project Classification Simulator. This tool is designed to provide preliminary and guiding information regarding the type of environmental study required for specific investment projects based on current sectoral regulations.

Users can input parameters such as activity type, scale, location, and productive sector to determine if a project requires a Declaration of Environmental Impact (DIA), a Semi-detailed Environmental Impact Study (EIA-sd), or a Detailed Environmental Impact Study (EIA-d). The tool aims to increase efficiency, predictability, and transparency by reducing the time spent on legal and administrative consultations.

The simulator is free and accessible via the official government website. It is intended for project owners, environmental consultants, public and private entities, and students. By providing immediate results, the tool helps in the planning and preparation of environmental studies, potentially saving months of uncertainty for sectors like mining, where detailed studies can take between 18 and 36 months.
