Senad executive secretary faces calls for investigation in Paraguay
Opposition Senator Rafael Filizzola has called for an investigation into Jalil Rachid, the executive secretary of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad), regarding the leakage of sensitive information during anti-drug operations.
Filizzola alleges that Rachid has protected high-ranking officials with ties to the late deputy Eulalio 'Lalo' Gomes and organized crime. Specific officials mentioned include Hugo Baptista, the General Director of Anti-Drugs, and Colonel Aldo Pintos, Commander of the Special Forces. The senator highlighted evidence from chats and call logs, including communications between Rachid and Gomes during a period when the press was reporting on interventions intended to facilitate the escape of alleged drug trafficker Ronaldo Mendes Nunes, known as 'Barba'.
