Senado Federal to open new cultural center in Brasília
The Brazilian Senate will inaugurate 'Senado Cultural', a new 80,000 square meter cultural center in Brasília, on December 9. Located on the shores of Lake Paranoá, the facility occupies the site of the former Public Servants Club and is currently undergoing revitalization to preserve its original 1976 architectural features.
The center will host the opening exhibition, ‘Senado em Movimento: 200 Anos de História’. Future programming includes long-term displays of the Senate's museum collection, galleries dedicated to local art and works from all Brazilian states, and an outdoor space featuring an exhibition regarding the January 8, 2023, attacks on the National Congress.
Designed to serve the community, the complex will include art galleries, an auditorium, restaurants, coworking spaces, and educational workshops. The landscaping for the project is set to be designed by the Burle Marx Office.
