Senador Canedo municipal hospital construction targeted for 2028 completion

The construction of the Municipal Hospital in Senador Canedo is expected to be completed by 2028, according to Mayor Fernando Pellozo. The project, funded through Conduct Adjustment Agreements (TAC), has already completed its foundation and slab stages. Once the construction bidding process is finalized, the mayor anticipates significant progress within 18 months. The planned facility will feature approximately 120 beds, including a surgical center, an obstetric center, and 10 neonatal ICU beds intended to serve medium and high-complexity needs.

While the administration aims to use the hospital to alleviate pressure on state neonatal and obstetric ICUs and secure more Ministry of Health resources, the project faces scrutiny. Local businessman and state deputy candidate Samuel Carvalho noted that even with works resuming, many projects remain in early stages and may not resolve urban bottlenecks in the short term. Other delayed infrastructure projects in the rapidly growing city include a bridge at the GO-020 and GO-536 junction and the Morumbi Residential Square.
