Senasa authorizes sanitary entities to distribute cattle identification chips

Argentina's National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa) has issued a new resolution to enhance the National Electronic Animal Identification System. The measure authorizes local sanitary entities and foundations dedicated to fighting foot-and-mouth disease to act as distributors of electronic identification devices.

These organizations are now permitted to purchase, market, and install identification devices for cattle, buffalo, and cervids. This change aims to optimize the implementation of electronic traceability by utilizing the existing territorial presence and infrastructure of sanitary entities that manage rabies and foot-and-mouth disease vaccination campaigns. The digital registration of data will be facilitated through the SIGBioTraza application.
