SENASA implements new agricultural regulations and biosecurity training in Argentina
The National Service for Food Health and Quality (SENASA) has implemented new measures to streamline agricultural oversight and biosecurity in Argentina.
Through Resolution 869/2026, SENASA established an updated procedure for the administrative authorization of phytosanitary products. This new framework facilitates access to tools for minor crops—such as legumes, vegetables, fruits, and spices—that may lack specifically registered products due to their smaller economic scale. The regulation also covers pests under official control and introduces new application methods, including the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). Requests can be submitted by producer associations, cooperatives, and research institutions, with a maximum response time of 90 days.
In a separate effort to protect the national livestock and poultry sectors, SENASA conducted intensive training sessions for over 65 official veterinarians at the National University of Córdoba. These workshops focused on strengthening passive surveillance, consolidating the National System for Phytosanitary Risk and Emergency Management (SINAGREF), and refining contingency plans for avian influenza. The initiative aims to ensure early detection and rapid response to epidemiological emergencies to safeguard international market access.
