SENASA promotes early sanitary controls for aquaculture in Tierra del Fuego

SENASA President María Beatriz “Pilu” Giraudo has emphasized the necessity of integrating sanitary and environmental controls from the earliest stages of aquaculture projects in Tierra del Fuego. During a meeting between national and provincial authorities, Giraudo highlighted that early intervention is essential to prevent contamination and ensure project viability.

A key priority is the strengthening of the provincial laboratory for toxins and microbiology in Ushuaia. Currently, many required analyses must be conducted in SENASA laboratories in Buenos Aires, which increases logistical costs and processing times. Enhancing local laboratory capabilities is expected to streamline the production chain and facilitate access to international markets by ensuring compliance with strict global protocols.
