SeNaSa reports over 12,000 breast cancer diagnoses in Dominican Republic

The National Health Insurance (SeNaSa) in the Dominican Republic reported that between January and August 2026, 12,752 women and 436 men received medical attention for diagnoses associated with breast cancer. This resulted in 864,149 health services with an authorized value of RD$2,049.4 million.

Data indicates that over 80% of female users are aged 40 or older, with nearly 60% falling between the ages of 45 and 69. The majority of users, 69%, belong to the Subsidized Regime, which accounts for 64.1% of the authorized value. Geographically, Santo Domingo and the Distrito Nacional concentrate 46.5% of the users.

Health experts and SeNaSa officials emphasize the necessity of early detection and regular check-ups to improve prognosis. While the disease primarily affects women, officials noted that 436 men also required care, prompting a call for all populations to remain vigilant regarding breast health.
