Republicans face uncertainty in key North Carolina and Georgia Senate races

Republicans are expressing concern that two critical Senate races in North Carolina and Georgia are becoming less competitive than initially projected. These contests are viewed as essential for the party to maintain its Senate majority.

In North Carolina, Republican Senator Thom Tillis has suggested the party must make difficult decisions regarding campaign spending, emphasizing that funds should be directed toward winnable races. The GOP super PAC Old North Action recently reduced its advertising reservations in the state by approximately one-third, signaling potential shifts in confidence. Michael Whatley is competing against former Governor Roy Cooper in this race.

In Georgia, Representative Mike Collins is trailing in polls against Senator Jon Ossoff. Collins’ campaign has indicated a need for additional support, noting that a segment of voters remains undecided. While party leadership maintains they will not abandon these candidates, the perceived lack of momentum in these states poses a significant challenge to Republican efforts to hold the Senate.
