Senate leader requests info on Bolsonaro biopic financing investigations

Teresa Leitão, the government leader in the Brazilian Senate, has formally requested information from the Federal Police (PF) and the Prosecutor General's Office (PGR) regarding investigations into the financing of the film ‘Dark Horse’. The film is a biopic about former President Jair Bolsonaro.

The inquiry seeks to clarify the status of investigations into whether Daniel Vorcaro, of Banco Master, provided irregular funding for the production. Reports suggest negotiations involving Senator Flávio Bolsonaro may have centered on a potential transfer of 134 million reais, with 61 million reais reportedly already moved. The Federal Police have opened a confidential inquiry, authorized by Supreme Court Minister André Mendonça, to trace these funds and determine if any irregularities or improper quid pro quo arrangements occurred.

Separately, in Pernambuco, opposition deputies have filed an impeachment request against Vice-Governor Priscila Krause. The request alleges conflicts of interest regarding public funds allocated to a hospital managed by her husband, Jorge Branco. The deputies claim Krause signed off on a 200 million reais budget that included the medical facility, which has already received 75 million reais from the state government.
