Senate President Alcolumbre Pushes Former Senate Head Pacheco to Lead PEC 6×1

Senate President Davi Alcolumbre (União‑AP) announced he will not accelerate the constitutional amendment (PEC) that would end the 6 × 1 rule. He suggested former Senate president Rodrigo Pacheco (PSB‑MG) become the rapporteur of the proposal, viewing the appointment as a way to restore dialogue with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva after their relationship soured over the rejection of a Supreme Court nominee. Pacheco has reportedly declined the role, citing the project's high public profile ahead of his own political plans. If he does not take the post, Alcolumbre expects Senator Omar Aziz (PSD‑AM) to assume the rapporteurship.
