Senate President Basilio Núñez inspects Paraguayan Senate remodeling
Basilio ‘Bachi’ Núñez, President of the Senate of Paraguay, inspected ongoing remodeling and adaptation works at the Senate building. The improvements aim to optimize legislative spaces and accommodate the current number of congressional staff, following damage caused by a previous fire.
Key developments include the opening of the Paz del Chaco room, designed for party leaders and live broadcasts, and the recently inaugurated President Eusebio Ayala room. Structural verification for these works was conducted in cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering of the National University of Asunción.
Núñez highlighted that the projects are supported by an USD 8 million donation from Taiwan, which is being disbursed in stages. While these works are publicized through the National Directorate of Public Procurement (DNCP), the agency does not have jurisdiction over the bidding processes due to special clauses established in the donation agreement with Taiwan. The initial phase of the project involves an investment of USD 459,000, covering lighting, bathroom renovations, and the creation of new workspaces.
