Senate President Ricardo de los Santos prioritizes legislative reforms
Ricardo de los Santos, President of the Dominican Republic Senate, has reaffirmed his commitment to a prioritized legislative agenda aimed at addressing long-standing pending laws.
Key reforms identified for upcoming legislative sessions include updates to Social Security, the Labor Code, the Civil Code, and the National Police Law. De los Santos emphasized the urgent need to modernize the Civil Code, which has remained in effect since 1804. Additionally, the Water Law remains a priority after years of deliberation in the National Congress.
The Senate President stated that the goal is to achieve approval for these and other important pieces of legislation during the two legislative sessions of the current year.
