Nigerian Senate Rejects Forgery Claims Over Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan's Suspension

The Senate has denied allegations that signatures were forged in the committee report that led to the six‑month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan of Kogi Central. Senate spokesperson Senator Yemi Adaramodu said, “That is not true. Signatures forged, over what?” and affirmed that no senator reported any forgery.

Former Edo State governor and Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole earlier claimed that the names of at least three senators appeared on the report without their consent, suggesting attendance registers might have been attached in place of proper signatures. He later issued a statement saying his comments were misrepresented, stating, “The insinuation that I said signatures of Senators were forged is a complete misrepresentation of what I actually said.”

The controversy revived scrutiny of the March 2025 suspension, which barred Akpoti‑Uduaghan from Senate duties, halted her salary and allowances, and sealed her office. The Senate announced it would review Oshiomhole’s remarks while no official response from the committee has been issued.
