Senator Adams Oshiomhole denies forging signatures in Nigerian Senate dispute

Senator Adams Oshiomhole issued a statement saying he never alleged that any senator's signature was forged in the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan of Kogi Central. He said the claim that he suggested forged signatures was a “complete misrepresentation” of his interview on AIT’s “Politics Today”. Oshiomhole clarified that a committee member had merely claimed attendance signatures were attached to a report, not that they were forged, and expressed regret if his comments caused embarrassment to the Senate.

Political commentary has highlighted Oshiomhole’s contradictory behaviour, noting his past praise of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and his recent unfounded allegations that Akpabio’s daughter obtained a job at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. Critics describe the remarks as reckless falsehoods that undermine his credibility.

The controversy revolves around the handling of the Senate committee report on disciplinary action, with Senator Ireti Kingibe also stating she was surprised to see her signature on the document without having reviewed it.
