Senator Agustín Dorantes promotes minor protection on social media

Senator Agustín Dorantes Lámbarri met with over 200 parents at the CECyTEQ campus in Menchaca, Querétaro, to provide guidance on preventing risks associated with social media use among children and adolescents.

Dorantes highlighted that the implementation of the Ley Kuri in Querétaro has enabled preventive measures regarding electronic device use in basic education schools. He advised parents to maintain constant communication with their children and establish clear rules for mobile phone usage, specifically warning against nighttime use which can lead to sleep deprivation, addiction, and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

During the session, the senator addressed several critical risks, including exposure to pornography and violence, screen addiction, and the potential for minors to be targeted by human trafficking networks or organized crime recruitment. Additionally, Dorantes toured the CECyTEQ facilities and pledged to coordinate with state and municipal authorities to support the construction of a sports court and improvements to the campus access road.
