Senator Íber Maraví linked to 1982 Sendero Luminoso attack
Retired Colonel Max Anhuamán has submitted documentation to the Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office regarding a survivor's testimony that links Senator Íber Maraví Olarte to a 1982 Sendero Luminoso attack.
Carlos Orlando Díaz Díaz, a former police officer who survived the assault on the Vilcashuamán police post in Ayacucho, claims to have personally recognized Maraví during the incursion. The attack, which occurred on August 22, 1982, resulted in the deaths of six police officers. According to the survivor, Maraví was seen wearing clothing similar to a police officer with higher-ranking insignia and entered the cell where officers were being held.
Anhuamán, the former head of the Directorate Against Terrorism (Dircote), stated that the survivor voluntarily came forward to provide his account. The documentation, which includes communications and images, has also been provided to General Carlos Zapata Fernández of Dircote for evaluation. The witness has expressed willingness to testify before the Senate or other relevant authorities to ratify his statement.
