Senator Cleitinho Azevedo pushes Senate vote on 6×1 work reform amid party clash in Minas Gerais

Senator Cleitinho Azevedo (Republicanos‑MG) urged Senate President Davi Alcolumbre to fast‑track the constitutional amendment that ends the 6×1 work schedule, a bill already approved by the Chamber of Deputies. Azevedo said the measure benefits workers and that the Congress should not block it, while reaffirming his support for the Chamber’s text despite earlier criticism for signing an alternative proposal.

At the same time, Azevedo publicly rebuked Republicanos national president Marcos Pereira, questioning the promised party backing for a possible Minas Gerais governorship bid. The dispute adds to the broader uncertainty in the state, where neither the left nor the right has secured a presidential candidate alliance. Flávio Bolsonaro has courted Azevedo, while the PT is seeking a new candidate. A recent poll shows 71% of Minas voters are still undecided about their choice.
