Senator demands resignation of Rutilio Escandón from Miami Consulate

PVEM Senator Luis Armando Melgar has demanded the immediate removal of former Chiapas Governor Rutilio Escandón from his position at the Consulate in Miami. Melgar alleges that Escandón is under investigation by United States authorities regarding potential links to organized crime groups, specifically the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and La Barredora.

In Chiapas, Governor Eduardo Ramírez recently presented data to President Claudia Sheinbaum regarding high levels of insecurity during Escandón’s administration. Ramírez highlighted various instances of violence, including police kidnappings, shootings, and armed confrontations, characterizing the security figures from that period as shameful.
