San Cristóbal bridge widening project nears completion in Argentina

Senator Felipe Michlig and Provincial Directorate of Roads administrator Pablo Seghezzo inspected the widening of three bridges on Ruta Provincial 4 in San Cristóbal. The largest span, the San Antonio bridge, is over 90 % complete and is expected to be finished by the end of August, provided weather conditions remain favourable. The other two bridges, Capivara I and Capivara II, are also progressing, with one projected to be completed in August and the other requiring roughly two more months.

The works expand each bridge from its existing width of about 5.5 m to a total width of 13.3 m (7.3 m roadway plus 3 m paved shoulders on each side) and add LED lighting. The aim is to improve safety, allow simultaneous passage of large vehicles, and provide space for emergency stops. In parallel, the provincial government signed contracts worth over ARS 852 million for road‑maintenance projects in the communes of Villa Saralegui, La Lucila, Ñanducita and Aguará Grande, further strengthening regional connectivity.

Overall, the bridge upgrades and associated road investments are intended to boost transport efficiency for producers, carriers and residents throughout the San Cristóbal department.
