Senator Jayme Campos denies political motives in Mato Grosso investigations

Senator Jayme Campos has denied allegations made by former governor Mauro Mendes that he used political denunciations to trigger Federal Police investigations. The dispute centers on ‘Operation Heritage’, an investigation into a R$ 308 million agreement between the Mato Grosso government and the telecommunications company Oi.

Campos clarified that his recent actions were prompted by reports from public servants regarding predatory payroll loans involving Banco Master. He stated that he sought investigation after hearing accounts of employees who, despite paying amounts significantly higher than their original contracts, remained in heavy debt. Campos described the situation as a form of robbery against public servants.
