John Fetterman faces Democratic criticism over reported neglect of Senate duties

Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is facing intense scrutiny and criticism from fellow Democrats following a Wall Street Journal report alleging he has neglected core legislative duties. The report, supported by interviews with former staffers and internal communications, claims Fetterman frequently skips committee hearings, avoids constituent meetings, and shows a preference for media appearances over official responsibilities.

Specific allegations include Fetterman canceling a meeting with paralyzed military veterans by claiming illness, only to appear for a Fox News interview shortly after. He also reportedly dismissed concerns from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia regarding Medicaid and vaccines, and declined to attend a funeral for fallen police officers due to its length.

In response, Pennsylvania Democrats, including Representatives Brendan Boyle and Chris Deluzio, have publicly condemned his conduct, with Boyle calling him a ‘disgrace.’ Additionally, a group of former staffers has launched a social media account, @FettermanStaff, promising to release further internal messages and screenshots starting September 14 to expose his conduct.
