Senator John Fetterman Vows to Remain Democrat Amid Israel‑Related Party Tensions
U.S. Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania said he will never leave the Democratic Party, even if the party were to adopt an anti‑Israel platform. Earlier in July he warned he would quit if the party officially became anti‑Israel, but in a recent New York Times interview he reaffirmed his loyalty, stating, “Never. I’m not being cute. I vote 90‑something percent with Democrats.”
Fetterman also criticized the growing influence of socialist and left‑wing factions within the party, rejecting proposals to abolish the border, prisons, the presidency or the Senate. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer praised Fetterman’s standing in the caucus, while Senate Majority Leader John Thune noted that Republicans would welcome him should he ever switch parties. The comments come after Fetterman's public confrontation with an Israel‑basher, where he maintained a firm stance without backing down.
