Senator Julieta Ramírez meets teachers union to discuss education reforms in Baja California

Senator Julieta Ramírez Padilla, on leave from the Senate, held a work meeting with the Sindicato de Trabajadores de la Educación (STE) in Tijuana, Baja California. The dialogue focused on strengthening education as a pillar for the state’s development and addressed teachers’ immediate concerns.

Key points included the need for effective safety and protection mechanisms for educators in violent areas, the implementation of solid security protocols, and priority mental‑health support. STE representatives also called for re‑valuing the teaching profession and restoring classroom authority. Additional issues raised involved the current situation of the state’s social security institute ISSSTECALI, and the proposal to launch a teacher‑led book fair to promote reading.

With a student population approaching one million, Ramírez emphasized that meeting teachers’ demands is essential for the well‑being and future of the state’s children and youth.
