Senator Lacson Flags New Evidence in Taguig Ghost Infrastructure Probe

Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson announced that his investigation into alleged ghost infrastructure projects in Taguig City has uncovered additional damning evidence, saying the “list lengthens” and the “case strengthens.”

The probe targets projects linked to the political base of Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, whose wife Lani Cayetano is Taguig’s mayor. Cayetano denied the existence of ghost projects and challenged Lacson to produce proof while urging a broader investigation. Lacson also highlighted a possible “double appropriation” involving two ₱100‑million allocations for the same slope‑protection work, suggesting one must be fraudulent.

The National Bureau of Investigation, led by Director Melvin Matibag, is reviewing the allegations, including the controversial ₱50‑million “kaldero” cauldron used for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, after new documents surfaced. The NBI says the inquiry is independent of any senator.
