Senator Lindsey Graham Memorial Services Set for Washington and South Carolina

Senator Lindsey Graham, the longtime Republican from South Carolina, died unexpectedly on July 11, 2026. The Medical Examiner of the District of Columbia determined the cause to be an aortic dissection caused by arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

His office announced that memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, at the Washington National Cathedral, followed by Wednesday, July 29 events in Columbia and Pickens County, SC, where he grew up. In the wake of his death, his sister Darline Graham was appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to fill his Senate seat, a move praised by former President Donald Trump, who has encouraged her to run in the upcoming special election for a full term.
