Senator Lorenia Valles Highlights Legislative Achievements in Sonora

Senator Lorenia Valles delivered her Second Legislative Report on 13 June 2026 in Hermosillo’s Arena Sonora. The event was attended by Senate President Laura Itzel Castillo, Senators Gerardo Fernández Noroña and Heriberto Aguilar, Secretary of Government Adolfo Salazar (representing Governor Alfonso Durazo), and local officials, as well as U.S. Consul Drew Hoster.

Valles noted that in her first two years in the Senate she helped approve 29 constitutional reforms, 100 regulatory changes and 21 new laws. Highlights included the constitutional amendment that recognises welfare programmes as rights for over 42 million Mexicans and a housing right expected to benefit 1.8 million families. She pledged to continue building the “second floor” of Mexico’s Fourth Transformation in Sonora, echoing reforms promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum on health, housing, employment, a higher minimum wage and a gradual shift to a 40‑hour workweek.
