Senator Lorenia Valles urges stronger support for Sonora's micro, small and medium enterprises

Senator Lorenia Valles, speaking on a licence, met with young representatives of Mexican business chambers in Hermosillo and emphasized the crucial role of micro, small and medium enterprises (Mipymes) for both Sonora and the nation. She noted that Mipymes account for 99.8 % of all companies in Mexico and 97.7 % in Sonora, generate seven out of ten jobs, and contribute more than half of the country’s GDP, with 42 % of Mexican start‑ups led by young entrepreneurs.

Valles linked the sector’s importance to the goals of the national Plan México and the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, calling for continued financing, digitalisation of procedures and tax incentives to boost competitiveness. She urged young business owners to maintain close ties with federal and state governments to foster growth and achieve the plans’ objectives.
