Senator Marsha Blackburn Leads Senate Probe into Jack Smith’s Phone Records Subpoena

Lawmakers, including Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, want to know what Verizon knew, when it learned of the subpoena, and whether it should have notified Congress after turning over the records. The probe focuses on the metadata—call dates, times, and numbers—rather than the content of the communications.

Blackburn’s criticism adds to growing Republican scrutiny of the special counsel’s broader investigation into alleged election‑interference, highlighting concerns over the collection of legislators’ communications and the limits of investigative authority.
