Senator Mike Lee criticizes lack of action on election security

Senator Mike Lee of Utah has criticized both Democrats and Republicans for their failure to advance the SAVE America Act, a legislative proposal aimed at increasing election integrity. His comments follow a report indicating that more than 30,000 self-declared noncitizens have been added to U.S. voter rolls since 2000.

According to reports, these registrations were attributed to ‘software glitches and clerical errors’ and ‘inadvertent bureaucratic failures’ rather than organized illegal registration efforts. Senator Lee argued that current safeguards rely too heavily on an ‘honor system’ and expressed concern regarding the potential impact on future election security.
