Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje denies defecting from APC

Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, representing Gombe Central, has denied reports that he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Addressing supporters at his residence in Gombe, Goje clarified that he remains a member of the APC while stating he is still consulting on his future political moves.

The speculation regarding his defection follows the APC primary, where DSP Mohammed Ahmadu emerged as the party’s candidate for the Gombe Central senatorial contest. Reports suggest that leaders from both the PDP and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have been lobbying Goje to join their respective parties.

Goje, who is serving his fourth term in the Senate, noted that he had previously intended to retire from politics in 2019 but returned to contest in 2023 due to supporter pressure. He assured his followers that his empowerment programs would continue regardless of his political status.
