Senator Němcová criticizes EET sales recording system

During the 29th meeting of the Senate of the Czech Republic on August 19, 2026, Senator Miroslava Němcová spoke against a legislative proposal regarding sales recording (EET).

Němcová argued that the tool has failed to meet the government's stated objectives. She noted that the initial implementation of EET negatively impacted the economy by causing small businesses and rural shops to close due to administrative complications rather than tax evasion. She also addressed previous arguments that the model was inspired by Croatia to combat the shadow economy.
