Senator Paulina Vodanovic urges political will for Maule police training school

Senator Paulina Vodanovic (Socialist Party) asked Regional Presidential Delegate Juan Eduardo Prieto to provide the political will needed to implement a Carabineros training school in Chile’s Maule region. The proposal, launched last year, includes a provisional site in EntreSilos, Talca, and a 10‑hectare campus in the commune of Duao that Carabineros has already selected.

Vodanovic said the delay hampers the response to a rising security crisis and the region’s homicide rate, which is higher than the national average. She stressed that establishing the school would increase the number of police officers stationed in Maule and help lower violent crime.

The senator’s appeal comes amid broader concerns about public safety and the need for additional police resources in the region.
