Brazilian Senator Romário’s CazéTV payments seized to cover R$32 million debt
The 4th Civil Court of Barra da Tijuca in Rio de Janeiro ordered that any amounts the senator Romário (PL‑RJ) is to receive from CazéTV be seized. The measure is intended to satisfy a debt of R$32.4 million owed to Koncretize Projetos e Obras Ltda, arising from a 2011 contractual dispute over the management of elevators in the parking area of the Café Onze Bar, of which Romário was a former partner.
The court also required CazéTV to submit the full set of contracts, proposals, invoices, receipts and any documentation showing how Romário’s remuneration for his role as commentator during the 2026 World Cup was structured, and to identify any partner companies that may have handled the payments. Earlier enforcement actions have already led to the seizure of a yacht, a property, a Porsche and vehicle‑registration restrictions on an Audi and a Peugeot.
Romário has said he will forfeit his Senate salary for the period he was abroad covering the World Cup, and his legal team plans to appeal the seizure order. The case remains under secrecy and is in the execution phase.
