Senator Rospigliosi files complaint against judge in Colcabamba case

Senator Fernando Rospigliosi has filed a formal disciplinary complaint with the National Board of Justice (JNJ) against Judge José Leonel Matos Centeno. The complaint seeks the judge's dismissal, alleging serious functional misconduct regarding a ruling that ordered 12 months of preventive detention for eight military personnel.

The soldiers are under investigation for qualified homicide and attempted qualified homicide following a military intervention in Colcabamba, Huancavelica, on April 25, 2026. Rospigliosi argues that the judge's resolution, issued on June 19, 2026, contained significant motivational defects and included arguments that were not debated during the hearing.

The complaint was delivered to JNJ President María Teresa Cabrera Vega on August 14, 2026. Rospigliosi has requested that the JNJ initiate preliminary proceedings and, if merit is found, pursue the maximum sanction of dismissal.
