Senator Rufai Sani Hanga explains political split with Rabiu Kwankwaso

Rufai Sani Hanga, the Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, has revealed the reasons behind his political split from Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Speaking in an interview with Dan’uwa Rano TV, Hanga stated that the relationship deteriorated due to disagreements regarding his constituent empowerment programmes. The tension peaked during a major event where Hanga distributed vehicles, rice, fertilizer, grinding machines, and livestock to his constituents.

Hanga noted that although Kwankwaso had initially agreed to attend, the former governor appeared visibly displeased upon arrival. Kwankwaso reportedly requested a break for prayers and left the venue without returning. Following the event, Kwankwaso allegedly confronted Hanga, accusing him of organizing the distribution to solicit public praise and claiming that the senator should have distributed the items through the movement's leadership instead.
