Senator Samuel G. Kogar expelled from MDR party
The Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) has expelled Senator Samuel G. Kogar from the party. The decision was reached by the party’s National Executive Committee, with 33 of the 37 members present voting in favor of the removal.
MDR Chairman and Labor Minister Cllr. Cooper Kruah stated that the expulsion was necessary because Kogar had been criticizing the administration, despite the MDR being a partner in the government. Kogar has rejected the decision, alleging that the expulsion was a government-orchestrated attempt to remove him without due process. He intends to challenge the move in court.
The United Citizens of Nimba for Peace and Progress (UCNPP) has condemned the expulsion, labeling it unconstitutional and a violation of the Liberian Constitution. The organization warned that the decision could lead to a mass exodus of MDR members and supporters, potentially damaging the party's legacy.
