Senator Shehu Buba Umar denies banditry sponsorship allegations

Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South, has responded to allegations that he is involved in sponsoring banditry in northern Nigeria. The claims were made by an individual identified as Hassan during an online interview with social media influencer D English Alhaji. Hassan alleged that the senator is connected to criminal elements, including associates of bandit commander Dogo Gide, and claimed that individuals were brought to Abuja for specialized training in drone operations and sniping.

Senator Buba denied the accusations, stating that he previously provided educational assistance to Hassan, who was introduced to him as an orphan. Buba claimed that Hassan exploited his hospitality to record unauthorized photos and videos of guests to create propaganda for political rivals.

While the allegations have sparked national security discussions, investigations by fact-checkers have noted that the claims remain unverified and lack official findings or court judgments. Previous viral videos related to this controversy were found to be misleading due to the use of unrelated clips.
