Senator Tammy Baldwin advocates for dairy support and Farm Bill provisions
U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin intends to advocate for dairy industry support as lawmakers return to Washington for a limited legislative session ahead of midterm elections. Baldwin is focusing on the upcoming Farm Bill, which is expected to cover agriculture, nutrition, conservation, and forestry programs.
During a visit to Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese, Baldwin highlighted the Dairy Business Innovation Initiative, a program established in the 2018 Farm Bill that has supported approximately 600 small and mid-sized dairy businesses.
Additionally, Baldwin expressed concerns regarding the beef cattle industry in Wisconsin. She noted that increased foreign beef imports could place pressure on local producers and emphasized the importance of country-of-origin labeling to protect local meat processing operations.
